Odoo Partner Construction & Renovation

Odoo for construction companies, costed by the job.

A construction company makes or loses money one job at a time. Most find out which after the job is closed.

We set up Odoo for general contractors, trades, and renovation firms so purchases, labor, and subcontractor bills land on the job as they happen. Estimating and takeoff stay in the tools built for them.

  • Written scope before work starts
  • Built on staging
  • Supported after launch
Where the time goes

Where a contractor's margin goes missing.

Job cost that arrives late

Material receipts, labor hours, and subcontractor invoices are entered weeks apart. By the time the job report is right, the job is over.

Change orders agreed on site and lost in the office

The work gets done. The paperwork that lets you bill for it does not always follow.

Purchasing by whoever is at the supply house

Materials are bought on cards and accounts with no job number. Someone codes them later from memory.

Field hours on paper

Timesheets come in on Friday, get keyed on Monday, and are argued about on Tuesday.

What we set up and run

Odoo for construction companies: what it covers.

Projects

Each job as a project with a budget

A project per job with budget lines, tasks, and an analytic account that collects every cost and every invoice.

Purchasing

Purchase orders tied to the job

Purchase orders and vendor bills carry the job. Subcontractor bills are matched to what was agreed.

Field

Time and work orders from a phone

Crews log time against a job and a task from a phone. Field Service adds work orders and customer sign-off for service and renovation work.

Billing

Milestones, or time and materials

Invoices are created from milestones, from delivered quantities, or from time and materials, with change orders as their own lines.

Configuration, or a project of its own?
Need Usually configuration Needs its own scope
Job costing Budget against actual by job and cost category. Cost codes that must match an estimating system or an owner's format.
Progress billing Milestone and percentage invoices. Retainage, a schedule of values, and pay application forms.
Subcontractors Purchase orders, bills, and document storage. Insurance certificate tracking, lien waivers, and holds on payment.
Payroll Timesheets by job and task. Certified payroll, union rules, and multi-rate labor. Usually a payroll provider, connected.

This is a guide, not a price list or a promise. What applies to you depends on your Odoo plan, your current software, and your rules, and it is settled in a written scope before work starts. See Odoo implementation and Odoo integrations.

Before you replace anything

Keep the estimating tool. Maybe the accounting too.

If your estimating or takeoff tool works, keep it. The same goes for a construction accounting package that already handles retainage and pay applications the way your owners expect. Odoo earns its place when job cost, purchasing, and field time are the gap, and it can sit beside those tools instead of replacing them.

Connecting systems that are not Odoo is covered under API and systems integration, and software built for your own rules under custom software.

Illustrative example, not a client result

One job, from award to final invoice.

This is how the work can move once the steps share one record. Your version will differ, and which steps are configuration or integration depends on your setup.

  1. The job is set up

The awarded estimate becomes a project with budget lines. Every later purchase, hour, and invoice points at it.

  2. Materials are ordered

A purchase order names the job. When the bill arrives it matches the order, and the cost is on the job that day.

  3. A change is agreed on site

The superintendent records the change from a phone. It becomes a line the office can price, get signed, and bill.

  4. The job is billed and closed

Invoices go out by milestone. The job report shows budget against actual without a week of reconstruction.

How we work

Six phases, one accountable team.

  1. Understand the workflows

We follow real work through your operation: where it starts, who touches it, where it waits, and where it gets retyped. You get a written scope that says what we found and what we recommend.

  2. Configure and integrate

Configuration first, integration second, custom work last and only where the first two fall short. Everything is built on staging, not on your live system.

  3. Validate the data

Your records are cleaned and loaded on a test copy, then checked by the people who know them. Bad data is the most common reason a launch disappoints.

  4. Train the team

Each team learns its own part on its own real cases. Short written guides stay behind.

  5. Launch

A planned cutover with a checklist, a way back, and us on hand while the first real work goes through.

  6. Support

After launch the system has an owner. Odoo Support runs month to month, and Odoo Operations is a committed engagement for teams that want us to own the platform.

Pricing
Written scope, then a quote

Every project is scoped and quoted for approval before work starts. There is no price list, because the workflows, the data, and the integrations drive the number.

After launch
The system has an owner

Odoo Support month to month, or Odoo Operations as a committed engagement.

FAQ

Questions we hear from construction companies.

Does Odoo handle retainage and pay applications?

Not as standard. Odoo can invoice by milestone or by percentage, but retainage held and released, a schedule of values, and pay application forms need custom work or a connected tool. We scope that first, because it decides whether Odoo should do your billing at all.

Can Odoo replace our estimating software?

We do not recommend it. Odoo can produce quotes, but it has no takeoff and no assemblies database. The better pattern is to keep estimating where it is and bring the awarded budget into Odoo.

Can crews use it from the field?

Yes. Time, tasks, and work orders can be recorded from a phone. What crews will really use is decided with them, on a real job, before rollout.

What does Odoo cost for construction companies, and how long does it take?

Both depend on the workflows, the state of the data, and the number of integrations, so we do not publish a price list or a standard timeline. You get a written scope with a quote and dates, and nothing starts until you approve it.

What happens after launch?

The system keeps an owner. Odoo Support runs month to month for fixes, changes, and questions. Odoo Operations is a committed engagement for teams that want us to own the platform, including upgrades.
