Odoo for manufacturers, from the order to the dock.
A manufacturer's promise date is a guess unless sales, the shop floor, and purchasing read from the same numbers. In most small plants they do not.
We set up Odoo for manufacturers and for maintenance and repair operations. Orders, materials, work orders, and costs share one database, and machine connections are scoped honestly as the integration work they are.
- Written scope before work starts
- Built on staging
- Supported after launch
Where a plant loses its promise dates.
Bills of materials in a spreadsheet
The real recipe for a product is in a file on one engineer's computer. Purchasing works from an older copy.
Material shortages found on the floor
A job starts and stops because a component is missing. The shortage was knowable a week earlier.
Costs known in total, not by product
The plant made money last quarter. Which products made it, and which lost it, is an opinion.
Maintenance by breakdown
Machines are serviced when they stop. The stoppage always lands on the busiest day.
Odoo for manufacturers: what it covers.
Bills of materials and routings
Each product has a bill of materials and a routing through work centers, with versions when engineering changes it.
Manufacturing orders and the shop floor
Sales orders or stock rules create manufacturing orders. Operators see work orders on a tablet and record time and quantities.
Purchasing driven by demand
Open orders and minimum stock levels drive suggested purchases, so the shortage shows before the job starts.
Maintenance and quality
Preventive maintenance is scheduled per machine. Quality checks are steps in the work order, with results recorded.
| Need | Usually configuration | Needs its own scope |
|---|---|---|
| Production planning | Manufacturing orders, work centers, lead times, and a planning view. | Finite capacity scheduling with complex constraints. |
| Shop floor | Tablet work orders, time recording, and barcode moves. | Connections to machines, controllers, and scales. |
| Costing | Standard or average cost with labor and overhead by work center. | Costing rules that differ from Odoo's methods, and variance reporting to a set format. |
| Repair and service | Repair orders, parts used, and warranty flags. | Field service contracts with complex entitlements, and serialized asset history. |
This is a guide, not a price list or a promise. What applies to you depends on your Odoo plan, your current software, and your rules, and it is settled in a written scope before work starts. See Odoo implementation and Odoo integrations.
Keep the engineering and machine systems.
Design software, product data tools, and anything that runs or monitors a machine stay where they are. Odoo plans and records production, and it does not control it. If a plant already has an ERP that fits and the pain is only on the shop floor or in purchasing, we will say so and fix that part.
Connecting systems that are not Odoo is covered under API and systems integration, and software built for your own rules under custom software.
One order, from confirmation to shipment.
This is how the work can move once the steps share one record. Your version will differ, and which steps are configuration or integration depends on your setup.
-
The order is confirmed
A sales order for a made item creates a manufacturing order. The promise date comes from lead times, not from hope.
-
Materials are checked
The system compares the bill of materials to stock. Missing components become purchase suggestions the same day.
-
The work is done
Operators work through the steps on a tablet. Time, quantities, and quality checks are recorded as they go.
-
The product ships
Finished goods are moved to stock, the delivery is created, and the cost of the job is on the record.

Client stores and approval routing for a Jacksonville printer
Per-firm client stores, approval routing, and ShipStation shipping, built on Odoo and run by us.

A custom connector that turns paid orders into queued print jobs on Fiery print servers. An example of connecting Odoo to equipment it does not talk to on its own.

Six phases, one accountable team.
-
Understand the workflows
We follow real work through your operation: where it starts, who touches it, where it waits, and where it gets retyped. You get a written scope that says what we found and what we recommend.
-
Configure and integrate
Configuration first, integration second, custom work last and only where the first two fall short. Everything is built on staging, not on your live system.
-
Validate the data
Your records are cleaned and loaded on a test copy, then checked by the people who know them. Bad data is the most common reason a launch disappoints.
-
Train the team
Each team learns its own part on its own real cases. Short written guides stay behind.
-
Launch
A planned cutover with a checklist, a way back, and us on hand while the first real work goes through.
-
Support
After launch the system has an owner. Odoo Support runs month to month, and Odoo Operations is a committed engagement for teams that want us to own the platform.
Questions we hear from manufacturers.
Can Odoo connect to our machines?
It can, but not out of the box for most equipment. Each connection is integration work that depends on what the machine exposes. We have built a connector from Odoo to print servers, and we scope each new one against the real equipment.
Does Odoo do production scheduling?
It plans manufacturing orders across work centers with capacities and lead times, and it shows a planning view. It is not an advanced scheduler that optimizes complex constraints. For many small plants, the standard planning is the upgrade they need.
Can Odoo handle maintenance for equipment we service for customers?
Yes, with limits. Repair orders, parts, and field service visits are standard. Service contracts with detailed entitlements need scoping.
What does Odoo cost for manufacturers, and how long does it take?
Both depend on the workflows, the state of the data, and the number of integrations, so we do not publish a price list or a standard timeline. You get a written scope with a quote and dates, and nothing starts until you approve it.
What happens after launch?
The system keeps an owner. Odoo Support runs month to month for fixes, changes, and questions. Odoo Operations is a committed engagement for teams that want us to own the platform, including upgrades.
Tell us what you make and how a job moves through the plant.
A short message is enough: what you do, what you run today, and where the work gets stuck. If Odoo is on the table, the Odoo Assessment is free and ends in a written Preliminary Scope.
